Joulun taika Spotify release

Exciting times!

Friday 1.11.2024 will be the release date of our family’s very own christmas song “Joulun taika” – The magic of christmas on Spotify.

The lyrics describe winter scenery of our then “country” home with it’s surrounding fields covered in snow lit by moonlight and warm feelings of being together with your loved ones at christmas time.

I don’t quite remember if it was the first time this song was performed live but it very well might have been this one (Joulun taika) over 10 years ago. Beautiful arrangement by Mika Siekkinen for ochestra and male choir.

The Spotify version is a sort of pop/radio version of the song with the usual band arrangement of drums, bass, guitar and piano plus some flute parts as well.

All those who are a part of making this version of the song are listed here in finnish:

Solisti: Markus Järvisalo
Basso: Toni Mäki-Leppilampi
Huilu: Markus Järvisalo
Kitarat: Aki Padatsu
Piano: Petri Järvisalo
Rummut: Simo Vitikka
Äänitys ja masterointi: Petri Järvisalo
Sävel: Petri Järvisalo
Sanat: Maija Järvisalo

I hope you enjoy our song!

Update: Song has been released! Actually in a lot more platforms than just Spotify. Link to the release: https://snd.click/joulun-taika-011124

Hello world!

This is actually the second time I have setup a WordPress server.

The first time was when I bought my first raspberry PI and wanted to experiment with what it could do, so I made it a 24/7 webserver. I even made one article there instructing how to use your raspberry PI as an bluetooth audio receiver to so you could just plug it in to some speakers/amplifier which do not have that functionality and then you are off to the races.

Second thing I did with the raspberry PI was to setup remote terminal also via bluetooth and then made a fork of the termux application for android and modified it so that you could use it to connect to the PI with your android phone. I guess you could still use it but you’d have to build it yourself and its quite old and has not been kept up with the original repo.

This time I was inspired by work lunch discussion about having your own domain. I have been having my eye on jarvisalo.fi domain for a long time and I even owned it long time ago when I was still studying but for some reason decided to not keep it. Then I just tried in the traficom website if this domain would be free and as luck has it, it was! The only problem with this finnish style domain with the ä-character is that it looks a bit funny in the default ascii format. Other than that I am quite pleased with the purchase and am looking forward to make use of this domain in the future.
